Contrasting sides of the Ryknield Way (A61)

Starting in the car park of Kenning Park we head up through Clay Cross to see how the Romans, railways, coal mining and recent regeneration have left their mark and learn of some strong local characters. Then, crossing the A61, we change scenery to go through the woodland and fields of old farmland. The Romans, the grand estates and the industrialists of the 19th and 20th centuries all left their mark on this area and it is now reinventing itself once more.
