Fancy somewhere different? Fancy enjoying the beauty of Big Wood, part of the original Sherwood Forest? Fancy a fairly gentle walk (there are hills in Notts so slopes both up and down are included!) rather than the normal more strenuous challenges of the Peak District?

Then this could be the walk for you. About 7.5 miles in Bestwood Country Park which includes a walk around the Mill Lakes, Big Wood, Bestwood Hotel and the imposing sight of the  Colliery Winding House.

Bestwood has a fascinating history and includes the stories of Nell Gwynn, the Dukes, and the history of the Colliery itself plus the renaturing and ecological advances in the park which continue today.
